Pine Grove Park
Established in 1987, the 57-acre community park has three kilometers of trails for walking or biking and a picnic area overlooking the Mersey River.
Pine Grove Park has been given to the people of Queens County Queens County families, who will continue walking the beautiful parkland of trails, in the heart of their community.
"Pine Grove Park is a place where families can spend time together and enjoy the forest that makes up our province's beautiful landscape," said Premier Dexter. "As the park's new owners, the people of Queens County no longer have to worry about who might buy the park or what could become of it. I'm pleased that it will remain an important part of this community, and I thank Bowater for maintaining the park so well over the past 25 years."

Avon Calling
and my name is Anne Perry. I am an Avon Representative and a Unit Leader with a growing Avon team. My team has representatives that work for themselves, allowing everyone to make the money they deserve. As one of the largest manufacturers of beauty products, Avon is a household name. But we are so much more than just a beauty company. We are a fortune 500 company that sells over 1000 products in our catalogues. Avon is a company that gives YOU the opportunity to share with anyone and everyone the ability to have your own company. To be in business for yourself and just not by yourself.
What made me start selling Avon? I was very skeptical of joining a direct selling company, I thought it would be expensive, time consuming and a money pit where it would take all MY money... boy was I wrong.
I choose AVON based on a few criteria:
- $10 to start and I got everything I needed for 2 full campaigns
- no start up kit to purchase on top of the start up fee
- no inventory to buy, no seasonal items that I need to purchase
- to keep up to date with stock
- and Avon pretty much sells itself so I would not have to spend so much time explaining what it is
- no min. order required ( if my order is 99 cents then so be it)
- no party's to host so my evenings and weekends are free to do with what I want and what I truly put into Avon is what I get out of it
- I can "treat" my customers to discounts and sales over and beyond that of the brochures just because I can.
- I get a discount on products I already use and like, now I get them cheaper
Before I signed on the dotted line I asked the rep. a bazillion questions and when I was satisfied I signed up - and what is great is I can back out at any time with no cost to me.

Stacey Smart-Chandler `s Conopeum Art
Stacey Smart-Chandler graduated the the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design in 2008, with an interdisciplinary degree. He degree gives her a wide background in the arts, so she knows something about all the mediums she is carrying.
Stacey has chosen the name Conopeum Art for her shop.
Click here to visit site: http://www.conopeumart.com/.
Conopeum is Latin for “canopy,” and Smart-Chandler says she wanted to choose a name that would encompass more than just art supplies. Not that there is any shortage of those either in the store.
The store has just about anything an artist or crafter’s heart could desire. There are fine art supplies, a section devoted specifically to children’s art, crafter’s section, scrap booking, knitting, crochet, bead working, jewelry making and fabrics. That’s just to start off with as well. Smart-Chandler says as people start coming in, she will modify what she is carrying to cater to the community.
Part of the store also has a workshop space, to hold classes by herself or by other artists. Rental of the space is charged on a percentage amount, based on the number of participants and the fee charged, rather than just a flat fee. She says she wants to have a space people can use by a wide variety of people.
CONOPEUM ART is much more than an art store.
It is time for a visit.

New Middle School - construction begins
It's begun!
Construction of the
new middle school in Liverpool, Nova Scotia
The new Middle School is expected to open in September 2013. This 15 million dollar project is being built on the very site of the existing school, right in the heart of the community.
There will be a small shift in the students with the opening of the new school as the Grade 9 students will be moved to the High School and the Grade 6 students will move from the Elementary School to the Junior High School.
Therefore the new school will take on the the "middle school" concept (grades 6-8) which is a relatively new model for the mid-level grades. Junior high schools were initially created for the purpose of "bridging the gap between the elementary and the high school".

Titanic Remembered
The Queens County Museum is exhibiting “Titanic Remembered”. This exhibit opened to the public on the 100th anniversary of her sinking, April 15. Liverpool had a small connection with the sinking of the Titanic. Two little Syrian boys, the Yarred brothers, survived and were brought here to Liverpool to stay with the Garratt family until they could be reunited with their family in Florida. On display are three hankies, authentic Titanic artifacts. Three hankies were scooped out of the water by a crewmember of the MacKay Bennett when she was sent out to the scene to retrieve the bodies. He brought the hankies home to his wife who washed and pressed them, then placed them in the family bible.
Come on in and see them and get the rest of the story . The exhibit will be in place from April 15yh to the end of September. There is no admission fee to come in and view it.
